Despite rumors fueled by Slaughterhouse's recent cameo appearance alongside Eminem, in Drake's "Forever" video, Slaughterhouse say they are not singing with Shady records. In a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Royce Da 5'9 spoke on Slaughterhouse's "Forever" cameo:
"There's gonna be rumors when somebody see something like that but it just is what it is. We just all family," says Royce. "As everybody knows, Em is a good friend of mine. We've been good friends for years. I just had my Slaughterhouse brothers in town and [Eminem's manager] Paul [Rosenberg] asked me to come down and be in the video and they just happened to be in town with me so I just brought 'em with me." -Royce Da 5'9

0 New Dr. Dre x HP "Envy 15" Laptop A "Mac-Book Killer"?

Story Via Woooha:

We have exclusive word straight from the folks at HP about what makes the upcoming Dr. Dre HP Envy laptop so freakin’ special. The most obvious difference is the all black matte casing with the glowing Dr. Dre “Beats” logo on the top…Yea. Hell Yea… but it doesn’t take a computer genius to see that difference. What will make the Dr. Dre x HP Envy so special in which they declare as the “Mac killer” is not just the sleek design but true to Dr. Dre style…it’s all about the sound. The HP Envy will be the first laptop to feature a “cutting-edge” sound system designed by Dr. Dre’s sound engineers labeled “Beats Audio.” The “Beats Audio” sound software was developed by the same folks that engineer Dre’s tracks and also helped design the Beats by Dre headphone line.

According to HP, Dre has developed “…a unique, high-performance audio software solution. Available exclusively on the HP Envy, Beats Audio offers users playing music or audio through headphones or external speakers the optimal sound experience – the way the artist intended it.”

HP would not give us any further details at this time about the Beats Audio software but did mention for us (and our readers) to be on the lookout for more information as the HP Envy and the Dr. Dre Edition hit stores on October 18th with prices starting at a very Mac-like $1,699 and up. Rumors that the Dr. Dre edition will include the Beats by Dre headphones were neither confirmed or denied. More info. to come. More pics after the jump…

0 Jay-Z Says "No One Is Scared Of 50 Cent" (Audio)

In an Interview with UK radio personality, Trevor Nelson, Jay-Z phoned in to speak on people saying that Kanye West would have never pulled a "Taylor swift" on a rapper like 50 Cent. Jay-Z went on to say that "No one is scared of 50 Cent" and that Kayne would have done the same thing had 50 Cent been on the stage instead of Taylor Swift. You will have to fast forward to the 1:23:48 mark in order to hear the interview *****Updated with Zshare Link.

Now I'd have to disagree with HOV saying "No One" is scared of 50 Cent, because I think Curtis might have had Lil Wayne a lil shook:

“That n—a’s crazy, Wayne laughed. “I ain’t f—ing with 50. He’s too high up there. That’s my n—a, though. I respect that my name even came out the homie’s mouth. I just took it as a compliment. I would never go back at 50; he’s a trillionaire. I’m trying to get there, homie. I’m smart. I ain’t dumb. - Lil Wayne

0 J. Cole Interview W/ ABC News

Roc Nation signee, J Cole talks to ABC News and recalls getting dissed by Jay-Z, his upbringing, how it feels to be on BP3 and why he feels he is the Lebron James of Hip-Hop:

Via ABC News

Whether it was by fate, or simply through calculated decisions, the cards were dealt in J. Cole's favor. "I studied the game and I studied the greats and I studied people's movements and the mistakes they made and the pitfalls. And he just did everything so close to perfect," Cole said about Jay-Z, during an interview with ABC News. "If I wanted to do it like anybody or better than anybody, it would be him," Cole said. But just two years ago, he feared that chance would never come. In September 2007, after reading about Jay-Z's upcoming album "American Gangster" on a rap Web site, Cole thought he could get his break by making beats for a record that would ultimately top the Billboard charts. "This was my chance. It was like a sign," Cole recalled. "God is telling me to get on this album. So I was praying on it," Cole said.
Cole went home that day and began making beats for the album. Hours later, with his work in hand, Cole and a friend waited outside Roc the Mic studio in the rain, on a
hunch that Jay-Z would be there to finish work on the album....

0 KarenCivil.Com Chronicles The Rise & Fall Of Charles Hamilton

A couple of days ago, I was talking to a friend of mine and we were discussing Charles Hamilton's noticeable absence from hip-hop. In the past, Charles was dropping mix tapes and new songs on an almost weekly basis. However, in recent months Charles Hamilton, has not released any music, updated his blog or his Twitter. Leaving many fans wondering about his whereabouts. About a day after this conversation, Rap Radar revealed that the artist had been dropped from his contract with Interscope. The good folks over at KarenCivil.Com cooked up a great Vh1 Behind The Music-esque article chronicling the personal and professional ups and downs which led to "The Rise & Fall Of Charles Hamilton". Below is a snippett of the aritcle:

...Charles was finding success in the public eye, things were not as progressive behind closed doors. Disagreements with his Demevolist management team were a frequent occurrence. Before long, Hamilton would cut all ties with them, his Violator affiliation and any form of management all together. At this point, his mindstate was geared towards taking steps he thought were best for his career, not what anyone else said or mentioned.

In the midst of the turmoil, he would begin his public relationship with Briana Latrise, the step-daughter of R&B icon, Mary J. Blige. The move stunned fans because, via his blog on several occasions, Hamilton would constantly document his love for pop star, Rihanna. Fact is, Hamilton never knew Rihanna, let alone be romantically linked to her. Rihanna was, in fact, “code” for Briana. Things would continue to spiral downhill after a much publicized beef with Soulja Boy did not turn out in his favor. However, one of the most crushing blows to his public image was a YouTube video of Briana punching him in the face after he jokingly remarked on her receiving an abortion.

0 Timbaland Speaks On "Shock Value 2" + New Artist: "SoShy"

Via MTV:

Other than Jay-Z's Blueprint 3, Timbaland says he's been taking a break from working on outside production. He wanted to focus on his own LP, Shock Value 2, due November 23.

Tim says the first single is coming in "a couple of weeks" and, although he wouldn't divulge the title, he did say it was inspired in part by the world's most popular vampire franchise, "Twilight."

"This record, it's interesting," he said of the upcoming single. "It's very interesting — [it features] this new artist on my label called SoShy from Paris. We're both rapping. The song, I can't describe it, it's so different. It's not different for me, but I can tell you this — it fits everything going on with the vampire theme. It fits everything with 'Twilight.' "

0 Big Sean Interview W/ Format Magazine

Detroit native and G.o.o.d Music artist, Big Sean recently sat down with format magazine to discuss meeting Kanye West, going on tour, his album: "Finally Famous" (which he says is looking at a September release), his affiliation with Burn Rubber, and dealing with the ups and downs of the music industry.

Format: When you first met Kanye and attended his secret listening party for Late Registration, where was it at?
Big Sean: It was actually located at a secret Universal office in the outskirts of Metro Detroit. The thing was they didn’t tell me where it was at – they told me word for word, “Yo come through the listening party, we’ll put you and + 3 on the list. It’s at a secret location, see you there.” and they left. And they told me that right after I rapped so I was so focused on the fact that I just spit for him [Kanye] and he liked it, then he took my CD and said he was going to listen to it in the car — I wasn’t really thinking as clearly as I should have been — I straight forgot to ask where it was located.

Then after Kanye left the station I was running around the station like a chicken with it’s head cut off asking where the listening party was at and nobody knew! As I was hoping back into my car I thought I missed my chance cause nobody knew where it is. And as I was getting in my car, some guy who was parked in front of me was hopping out of his car and said, “Hey! You that kid that rapped for Kanye? Man that shit was crazy! You going to the listening party?” and I was like, man, I don’t know where the fuck it is! Then he reached in his pocket and pulled the address out on a business card and handed it to me. And that’s how I ended up at the listening party.

Format: Is there a date set for your album, Finally Famous to drop?
Big Sean: Yeah, Kanye and LA think around September, so we’re really about to kick things in high gear. The album itself is almost done though. Got appearances from Ye, Pharrell, Dream, and most importantly me. [Laughs] But I honestly hope it will change the game. I’m excited to do what I’m in love with!

Format: What should we expect from Finally Famous? Is there a theme or message?
Big Sean: Well, the whole theme of Finally Famous is way deeper than it sounds. The meaning of ‘Famous’ is being recognized for your craft. We threw ‘Finally’ in front of it to symbolize that the patience needed to achieve that craft. So basically anyone who is recognized for doing something very good, whether it be music, school, talking, etc. Whatever you’re very good at doing, you’re ‘Finally Famous’ for it. So it’s a concept everyone can embrace and relate to.

Format: Tell me about your style and your swag; who are your biggest influences?

Big Sean: Swag is, and style is just an extension of yourself. So my biggest influence is my mind I guess. I like what I like. It’s just certain clothes I love (Bape, BBC/Ice Cream).

Format: You seem to always be wearing Burn Rubber gear, what’s your affiliation with them?
Big Sean: Burn Rubber are my homies. They lace me with gear all the time. [Laughs] They were my homies before they started doing clothes, hats, and stuff. I really like their clothes. They’re the homies. Got a Big Sean / Burn Rubber collabs coming soon.

0 XXL Interviews Boi-1da

The man behind Drake's "City is Mine", "Ransom", "Best I Ever Had', "Uptown' and more recently, 'Forever"(which features the likes of Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem) chops it up with XXL Magazine regarding working on Drake's new album, his own signature sound, working on Dr. Dre's Detox and how his prices have changed since the release of "Forever":

XXL: On your wiki page it says that you’re working on Detox, is that true?

Boi-1da: Yeah I was actually submitting tracks for Detox through my boy Brandon, who’s [the] A&R for Dr. Dre. After he heard the “Set it off” track that I did for Kardinal, he actually wanted that beat. I had already gave it to Kardinal and it was already on his album but he liked the beat so much that he didn’t even rap in three years and he came out, he came out and started rapping and did a remix over it. Everybody was like, “What the hell, Dr. Dre ain’t rap in like three years.” So they were hollering at me to get a beat that was like similar to that.

XXL: You got some track record, man. You got Dre rapping, you putting out Eminem, Kanye and Wayne on the same track. What other projects are you working on?

Boi-1da: Right now I’m working on an artist from Toronto I’m developing named August. He’s an R&B singer, amazing R&B singer. Like he’s really, really good. We’re working on his stuff. I’m working on a lot of stuff with Sean Garrett. He’s writing to a lot of my beats. I submitted some stuff for Usher. Usher is cutting, I think he cut a record of mines yesterday.

XXL: Word

Boi-1da: Who else? I’m trying to work with the Jonas Brothers. Like I’m just trying to get in with it where I fit in. You know?

XXL: Wow

Boi-1da: I don’t even care. I just, I’m just trying work with whatever, whoever, why ever, however. You know what I am saying?

0 J. Cole Interview W/ Complex Magazine

Roc Nation artist, J. Cole chops it up with Complex about working with Jay-Z,appearing on the Blueprint 3, how he landed a verse on "A Star Is Born" and his debut album, which he says should be coming Spring 2010. Here's a snippet of the interview:

Complex: How were you approached to be on “A Star Is Born”?

J. Cole: I had a show in show in Virginia. This was back when I was just opening up for Wale on like a few dates. So, I was in Virginia, and I had two shows, one in Norfolk, and one in Richmond. I get a get a call from Mark Pitts and he’s like, “Yo nigga, Jay just hit hit me. He said he got something big for you.” I was like, “Oh shit, what you mean?” He said, “He got this Kanye track… something about a star is born…some shit about a star.” I thought, from his explanation, because you can tell he wasn’t too clear on it, I thought Jay just had a joint for me. I thought it would be mine, and I was on some shit like, Ahhh, I don’t like being told “get on this” or whatever. But I’m like, Damn!

Complex: Even by Jay-Z?

J. Cole: Even by Jay-Z, yeah. That’s when the reality set in: Well, yeah it is Jay saying it, and it’s Kanye, so what the fuck you gon’ do? You gotta do it.

Complex: What was your process for writing the verse?

J. Cole: I’ll tell you this: the first five to ten minutes was spent with me trying to clear my mind, because 90 percent of my thoughts was like, I’m in the studio with Jay-Z. He’s sitting on the couch watching me write, watching my process. He was trying to act like he wasn’t watching. He was on his laptop, threw his headphones on, but his head was boppin’ to the studio beat, so it was like, “You not foolin’ me!” So I’m half like, Oh shit, this nigga’s watching me, analyzing my process, maybe trying to see how I’m working, and the other side was trying to think of lines. So after the first ten minutes, once I was like, “Yo, nigga, get to work!” that’s when it all started to flow. I really just tried to have to have faith in myself. I didn’t race in or nothing like that. Whatever I put on the page was pretty much what i ended up saying. And I thought it was ill, but it wasn’t until the last line, when i was like, “The flow cold as the shoulders of gold diggin’ hoes when a broke nigga approaches”… when the line came to my head, it was almost like that scenario can’t really rhyme that well! And then I was like, Oh, shit, it does! I was as confident as i could be in a verse, given the circumstances.
