0 JD Era - "Th1rt3en" (Mixtape)

In anticipation of the arrival of his debut studio album, Toronto up-and-comer JD Era has cooked up a brand new prelude mixtape entitled Th1rt3en. Hosted by Canada’s Mixtape King, DJ Dax, the project features 13 fresh, previously-unreleased tracks from the “Prince of the North,” backed by the boardwork of high-profile producers like Boi-1da, Don Cannon and Northern Profit. Guest contributors include T-dot heavyweight Drake (”Rock N Roll”), along with such buzzmaking emcees as Freddie Gibbs, Saukrates and Q Da Kid (to name a few). If JD Era’s trademark blend of underground and mainstream has you hooked, keep it locked for release details on his yet-untitled freshman full-length, scheduled to hit stores and online retailers sometime this year via Black Market Music.

0 Drake Speaks On Thank Me Later 1st Single; "Over"

Via Rap-Up:
The wait is almost over. Drake has selected the first single from his highly-anticipated debut album.
The first offering from Thank Me Later will be called “Over.” Drizzy exclusively tells Rap-Up.com that the track was produced by fellow Canadian Boi-1da, who is responsible for two of his biggest hits, “Best I Ever Had” and “Forever.”
The Young Money signee went through a painstaking process before choosing the right single. “Before I start working a single, I need to get about 10, 15, 20 songs done so I can pick from a batch of music as opposed to just committing to something right now,” he told Rap-Up.com in November. “It takes a lot for me to put a song onto that list. It’s gotta be a real great song. It’s gotta be something that I feel is timeless and is better than anything that I’ve ever done.”
The album, due this spring, is expected to feature collaborations with Jay-Z (“Light Up”), Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and The-Dream (“Shut It Down”), as well as production from Kanye West, Noah “40” Shebib, and Tone Mason.

0 XXL Interviews Boi-1da

The man behind Drake's "City is Mine", "Ransom", "Best I Ever Had', "Uptown' and more recently, 'Forever"(which features the likes of Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem) chops it up with XXL Magazine regarding working on Drake's new album, his own signature sound, working on Dr. Dre's Detox and how his prices have changed since the release of "Forever":
XXL: On your wiki page it says that you’re working on Detox, is that true?
Boi-1da: Yeah I was actually submitting tracks for Detox through my boy Brandon, who’s [the] A&R for Dr. Dre. After he heard the “Set it off” track that I did for Kardinal, he actually wanted that beat. I had already gave it to Kardinal and it was already on his album but he liked the beat so much that he didn’t even rap in three years and he came out, he came out and started rapping and did a remix over it. Everybody was like, “What the hell, Dr. Dre ain’t rap in like three years.” So they were hollering at me to get a beat that was like similar to that.
XXL: You got some track record, man. You got Dre rapping, you putting out Eminem, Kanye and Wayne on the same track. What other projects are you working on?
Boi-1da: Right now I’m working on an artist from Toronto I’m developing named August. He’s an R&B singer, amazing R&B singer. Like he’s really, really good. We’re working on his stuff. I’m working on a lot of stuff with Sean Garrett. He’s writing to a lot of my beats. I submitted some stuff for Usher. Usher is cutting, I think he cut a record of mines yesterday.
XXL: Word
Boi-1da: Who else? I’m trying to work with the Jonas Brothers. Like I’m just trying to get in with it where I fit in. You know?
XXL: Wow
Boi-1da: I don’t even care. I just, I’m just trying work with whatever, whoever, why ever, however. You know what I am saying?
