THE GREATEST TO EVER DO IT

Vibe Interviews Lil Scrappy

As part of Vibe Magazines' "60 Rappers In 60 Days" series, They recently caught up with Atlanta rapper: "Lil Scrappy" to discuss his recent signing with DTP, His beef with Lil Jon and being stabbed back 2008.

Quotable:

"[Lil Jon] was always a fame-hogger. He’s cool when it comes to performing and making beats, and his work ethic is good. But when he’s not working, he thinks everybody else needs to be on standstill. So that’s what happened to my career. And no matter what I tried to do, in Atlanta they [hated on me] so bad because I guess some people didn’t get certain things out of Jon that they wanted. So they put me in that same box and same category".

Max B Found Guilty In Murder Trial; Facing 20 Years In Prison

Via Thisis50:

Thisis50.com has just learned that former ByrdGang affiliate, Max B,, real name Charly Wingate has just been found guilty on 9 out of 11 counts in his ongoing murder trial. Max is scheduled to be sentenced in Bergen County on July 11, 2009, where he is facing up to 20 years in prison. Today after the jury deliberation Max was taken directly into custody .

According to the authorities, Max's ex, Gina Conway, was recruited by Max in 2006 to rob two men in a Fort Lee, NJ, Holiday Inn. Max then recruited cohort, Kelvin Leerdam, to assist Conway in the robbery of the men, who were known for driving " flashy cars" and carrying "a lot of cash."

On Sept. 22, Leerdam and Conway ambushed the victims in their room, restraining Allan "Jay" Plowden with duct tape, while awaiting the return of his partner, David Taylor, who was alleged to have $30,000 in his possession. When Taylor arrived, he was immediately shot in the head, execution-style.

After the would-be robbers fled, Plowden was able to alert the front desk that there had been a murder in the hotel. He was then apprehended by police, attempting to take the $30,000 out of the hotel room, where it had been hidden the entire time. Plowden was charged with money laundering and identity theft. One week later Conway, Leerdam and Max B were apprehended and charged with the robbery.

Drake Featured In Rolling Stone

Here's a brief snippet of the feature:

Under Wayne's tutelage, Drake's rhymes took a steroid-like leap in potency. "Wayne told me to just remember it's about your thoughts, you got to think about what you want to say beforehand," Drake says of Wayne's mentorship. "And then from there, you make it rhyme or you make it connect. But the more important thing is, What's your message, What's your point. And that should be the bare essentials of a line or a verse — what do you really want to say and what do you want to say about yourself?

"I think he gave me that advice truly for me to set myself apart as a rapper," he adds, "because I know Wayne sometimes raps for the sake of being a phenomenal rapper. And other times you'll get a song where he tells a story and gets personal. But when he gave me that advice it was almost like him giving me like a cheat code. Here, I'm gonna give you something; I'm gonna give you a piece and see what you do with it. And So Far Gone is what I did with it."

Jay-Z's "Blueprint 3" Gets Release Date

Via XXL MAG:

After news broke last week that Jay-Z has been speaking to both Warner and Sony since leaving Def Jam Recordings, it seems as if the Brooklyn MC has found a new home. Actually it looks like he found two.

MTV News has confirmed that Jay’s new album, The Blueprint 3, will be coming out on the 8th anniversary of his original multi-platinum selling Blueprint. Rumored to hit shelves on September 11, the disc will be on Atlantic Records, which falls under his past partners Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles’ Waner Music Group company.

According to Billboard, Blueprint will also be distributed through Roc Nation and a formal announcement of the deal will take place at this Sunday’s (June 7) Summer Jam concert in New Jersey presented by Hot 97.

At the same time HitsDailyDouble reports that, while not officially revealed yet, Hov has decided to bring his Live Nation label, Roc Nation, to Sony. Billboard says the imprint will be distributed through Epic. – Elan Mancini
